Teeth Repair with CEREC Porcelain
It’s no secret that many people want to have their teeth corrected and have a beautiful smile that they can be proud of. Sometimes it’s necessary for your teeth to be pulled, as a result of tooth decay or gum disease. However, this doesn’t mean that you have to walk around with gaps in your teeth; dental implants are available that will provide you with the replacements you need to flaunt that perfect smile.
At Dental Tourism Holidays, we replace missing teeth with dental implants and repair all teeth present in the mouth with CERECporcelain crowns. All teeth with infection inside the root canal system need to be treated with a root canal procedure before it can receive a CEREC crown. We also treat diseases inside the mouth with proper oral hygiene procedures and maintenance.
What is CEREC Dentistry?
CEREC is an acronym used for Chairside, Economical, Restoration of Esthetical Ceramics and when you look at the process of CEREC dentistry, if is quite fitting.
The technology allows a dentist to be able to make a crown in the dental practice as a patient is waiting in the dental chair (chairside). This is more economical, since you would not have to come back for a second procedure phase like in conventional dental implants processes and although economical, there is no compromise on the functionality of aesthetics of the crowns. CERECdentistryallows for the restoration of tooth/teeth to its full functionality, natural beauty and strength.
The aesthetics of this implant is reason enough to consider the procedure, since the restoration is metal-free and thus no metal will be visible and the restoration is coloured so that it will blend in with your natural teeth.
Lastly, the porcelain (ceramic) used is very strong.
It has taken over two decades of clinical research and supportive documentation to be able to perform CEREC dentistry. However, with this technology at hand, the life of a patient is made easier.
CEREC Porcelain Crowns
If your dentist refers to a crown, he/she refers to a cap-like structure that is permanently “glued” to a tooth in order to provide a function like chewing and for aesthetical value. Your dentists may also talk about “caps” as opposed to crowns. CEREC dentistry crowns are dental implants and are made from porcelain. Porcelain is a type of ceramic that is very strong and will therefore provide the necessary strength if you want to chew. Alternatively, porcelain that is bonded to gold can also be used, given an even higher strength. A crown is also used if current fillings have caused discoloration – especially in the front teeth – and to repair heavily broken teeth.
Often, patients might complain of filled teeth at the back. The pain is often causes by hairline fractures in the area used to chew food. When a crown is placed over this area, pain is relieved and that tooth will be able to function again at an optimum.
A crown is fitted on a remaining part of a tooth, giving it the natural tooth shape and strength. In the case of a patient having a gum disease or infection, the problems will have to address before a crown can be added. If a crown is maintained and cared for, it can last up to 15 years or more.
The CEREC Dentistry Procedure
Firstly, your dentist has to examine your teeth to make a decision on the most appropriate treatment options. You might only need a simply filling or you might have to receive a crown. This will all depend on the amount of the tooth structure that is left and the condition of it. After a treatment has been chosen and discussed, the patient will receive an anaesthetic in order to remove tooth tissue that has weakened and decayed, to make further preparations to commence with tooth restoration.
The Optical Impression
The dentist takes an optical impression of the tooth that has been prepared by coating the tooth with a tasteless, non-toxic powder. Then, a digital photo/picture is taken of the tooth. This process takes about one to two minutes.
No More Temporary Fillings
The CEREC machine will now use the digital picture, convert it into a 3D virtual model by using CEREC 3D software, and display this on the screen. The doctor, through the CEREC 3D computer program, will now design the restoration.
As soon as the restoration has been designed, the data is sent to a machine that does the milling. This milling machine uses a ceramic block that matches the colour of your teeth and within 20 minutes, you will be able to see a ceramic, tooth restoration that matches your other teeth in colour as a final product.
Before the restoration is permanently fitted into your mouth, the dentist first fits the restoration or crown in the patient’s mouth to make sure that it fits properly and that there is a proper bite. If it fits and look good, the restoration is polished and bonded to the tooth that has been prepared.
Why You Should Choose CEREC
Patients love the thought of convenience. Most methods that involve dental restoration requires more than one visit to the dentist and often, temporary restoration is on the menu. CEREC dentistry cuts out any inconvenience by having a tooth prepared while you are waiting and you will your problem fixed the same day as the first and only consultation. Why waste more time?
Do Not Wait
CEREC dentistry cuts out the disadvantage of having to wear temporary restoration while a crown is being made and saves money by not to have to return for another consultation.
